Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming video game set in the magical world of Harry Potter. In the game, players will take on the role of a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

They will be able to choose their house, attend classes, brew potions, and explore the world of magic. Spells are the most important aspect of the game, as they will allow players to overcome the game’s challenges.

From combat-focused spells to utility spells, players will have great freedom of choice about how they wish to approach the various quests in the game.

Learning spells in Hogwarts Legacy is essential for progressing through the game. Players will not begin the game with access to a large arsenal of spells. They will begin with only a few utility spells and their basic attack spell.

Luckily, players will have the ability to expand on this as the game progresses through their diligence in studying.

Learning new spells is quite simple in Hogwarts Legacy, though that does not always make it easy. Players will be learning their new spells from mostly the same source: the professors who teach classes at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Given that players are beginning their new term at the magic school as fifth-year students, they have to rely on their professors to teach them new spells during the course of attending classes as the game progresses and they level up.

As a part of the same story, players are far behind their fellow students. As such, professors will also teach players new spells by giving special assignments alongside their regular classes. After playing a little mini-game, players will acquire the spell for themselves.

Some of the spells available for players to learn will be taught as a part of the main story of the game. Players will come across obstacles in the world that they cannot pass as a part of the story, so their new objective will be to attend certain classes until they learn the necessary spell to progress.

This is the simplest way to learn new spells, as players will acquire them through regular gameplay. These main story spells are not the only spells to be learned in the game, however, as players will be given side quests called assignments to learn more.

The assignments given to players range from finding pages hidden around the world to performing certain feats in combat with other wizards. These are presented as quests in the game, so players will need to occasionally check their quest log to see which assignments they have been given and what needs to be accomplished to complete the quest.

Once these assignments have been completed, players will need to return to whichever professor assigned the quest by fast traveling back to the professor’s classroom. Once players have returned to their classroom and spoken to the professor, the professor will teach the associated spell.

Spells in Hogwarts Legacy relate to Hogwarts school subjects such as transfiguration, charms, herbology, and more. Even the potions master has a few spells to teach you outside of brewing concoctions.

To learn a spell, players have to draw a pattern following a set path. If the red beam catches up with them, they have to start again, but if they hit the correct keys at the right time, they’ll get a speed boost.

It’s well worth doing every assignment players are offered after attending a class for the first time if they want to build up their repertoire. Most of the spells aren’t required to progress the main story, but players will need some optional spells to complete all those Merlin trials scattered along the countryside.

Different types of spells can be unlocked in Hogwarts Legacy. Essential enchantments are a valuable asset during combat and exploration, and Control spells will help players handle a fight without necessarily dealing direct damage.

Force enchantments allow players to move objects and enemies, while Damage spells are their best option to win any battle. Utility enchantments come in handy during many occasions that don’t necessarily involve fights.
